Stephanie Browning made a name for herself as the Artist-in-residence at the world renowned Gold Star Sardine Bar, a listening room reminiscent of Paris in the ‘30s. The venue was an international gem and captivated audiences assisted Stephanie in honing her improvisational skills and soulful voice.
In addition Browning held residency at the #1 hotel in North America, the Peninsula Hotel in Chicago, where she performed for VIP and celebrity events and live in the elegant “Lobby Lounge” Friday and Saturday nights for over 6 years.
Stephanie combines classic jazz standards with contemporary songs that create an atmosphere of excitement and class.
Songs made famous by Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Carmen McCray, Bette Carter and many others are all part of Browning’s repertoire.
In addition Stephanie can perform R&B and pop tunes which allows her to mix a few classic songs like “Let’s Stay Together” and “Mustang Sally” into her sets. She creates and exciting atmosphere for dancing, dining and conversation.
After hundreds of performances in clubs and restaurants, corporate functions, tradeshows, hotels, private parties and weddings we realize that the music of Frank Sinatra is still in high demand.
That’s why we came up with the concept of Martinis & Sinatra. Martinis & Sinatra is not a Sinatra impersonation or “schtick”—it’s top musicians performing music of the “Sinatra generation,” from composers like Cole Porter, the Gershwins, Sammy Cahn, Rogers & Hart, Antonio Carlos Jobim and many more.
Martinis & Sinatra provides an upscale and exciting atmosphere for corporate receptions, trade shows, weddings and cocktail and holiday parties. One more thing: Martinis & Sinatra performs music at a reasonable volume, so you and your guests can mingle, dance, network and just plain have fun!
A highly appealing jazz singer with a quietly expressive voice and a deep understanding of the lyrics that she interprets, Keri Johnsrud has been an important part of the Chicago jazz scene for the past 15 years. With headlining appearances at Chicago’s top venues including the historic Green Mill Cocktail Lounge and Jazz Showcase, Keri has built a strong reputation and following among peers and fans, alike.
Because of her experience she can add the right kind of excitement and atmosphere to corporate receptions, private events and wedding cocktail/dinner hours without overwhelming your guests so they can still mingle and network.
Her repertoire includes the music that Ella Fitzgerald, Diana Krall, Tony Bennett, Sinatra and many others made famous.
featuring the music that Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr made famous. However this group also performs more then just rat pack style music they also include music by Tom Jones, Elvis, Burt Bacharach, Frankie Valie and others.Frank Lamphere’s Sinatra, Martin and more helps to create an exciting elegant atmosphere for corporate receptions, weddings and cocktail parties.
Depending on the atmosphere you are trying to create the group can perform as a quartet, quintet, sextet all the way up to a ten piece band keeping your guests dancing throughout the entire evening. Also because of the experience of the musicians, never at an overwhelming volume level.
This is not an impersonation but rather one of Chicago’s finest vocalists performing the songs that transcend generations.
It takes a bit of courage to step into the shoes of a legend – and not just any old legend, but one of the most beloved vocalists since the dawn of American popular song. But if starring in Ella Fitzgerald First Lady of Song a decade ago was at all daunting for Ava Logan, you couldn’t tell it from her shimmering performance in the show, produced by Chicago’s Black Ensemble Theater.
Capturing Ella in mid-career, Logan showed off her “powerhouse voice,” wrote Chicago Sun-Times theater critic Hedy Weiss, and “sophisticated” style.
Portraying Ella proved an important step in Logan’s development as a jazz artist, as did playing Nancy Wilson in another BET production, Dynamite Divas. Logan has always had a great voice – one that no less a judge of jazz singing than the great Sheila Jordan called “lovely.”
But it was her ability to absorb the signature styles of Ella and Nancy – and Sarah and Carmen and Dinah – that took Logan where she wanted to go as an artist. To that point where her influences are ingredients in her own recipe for success, and Ava Logan is a striking original in her own right.
Michele Thomas is a jazz musician, vocalist and songwriter from Chicago, IL. Her talents have carried her through a fantastic array of experiences within the massive world that is, music. By combining her gospel background with her deep love of jazz and appreciation for contemporary soul and R&B, Michele has crafted a sound that doesn’t conform to one genre, but instead evokes the elements that make these genres so dynamic.
Not only does she blend the genres of jazz and soul together with elements of folk, but she uses her voice and songwriting to stir something deeper within people, causing them to engage the lyric and the beat simultaneously. Michele has been compared to other powerful African-American singers such as Ella Fitzgerald, Dianne Reeves, Cassandra Wilson, and Anita Baker, but she also draws inspiration from Kurt Elling, James Taylor, and Sting...
Messenger is Michele’s most recent album and serves as a tribute to Stevie Wonder and the power of his music and songwriting. It also continues to display Michele’s talent for outfitting existing jazz instrumentals with original lyrics, paying homage to the composers and musicians she admires, while simultaneously displaying her vocal flare like on her rendition of Hal Galper’s“Triple Play.”
Whether in her studio, on stage in a jazz club, or in the recording booth, Michele Thomas brings an amazing level of energy, passion, and emotion to everything she does. Music is a powerful force whether it draws inspiration from gospel or the shared human experience and Michele Thomas aims to channel that energy into your heart, mind, and soul.
