Live Music Helps Generate Business at Corporate Receptions: Chicago Jazz Trio - Quartet - Vocalist
Corporate Receptions - Live music can help you land more business
The function of 99% of corporate receptions is so that the host company can get there potential clients into a situation where they are relaxed so that their sales team and managers can form relationships outside of the work environment in order to create future business.
It is absolutely essential to create a an exciting environment for your guests that will first make them want to attend your reception and second keep them there and get them relaxed and talking business. You can have the best wine, the finest food, the coolest venue but if there isn’t live music you most likely will be missing a key element in impressing your guests.
You see when people come to Chicago they want to experience the nightlife and part of that nightlife experience is live music. Living in Chicago we don’t realize what we really have here in the city but for visitors it is completely different. The Chicago Jazz and the Chicago Blues scenes are known throughout the world, so why not bring that music to your guests at your reception?
Trust me it works!
With the right messaging for your reception you can usually get a 20% - 30% bump in guests if they know who the musical entertainment will be that night. This doesn’t mean the music has to be loud, it doesn’t even mean it has to be the featured attraction it only has to add that extra element of excitement to your reception that will get your guests and potential clients thinking it is a big deal!
The Chicago Jazz Quartet
But it is essential to hire the right musical group so that they understand the entire point of the evening and that is for your company to build business relationships and hopefully make some sales.
I developed Chicago Jazz Entertainment because I not only have performed at hundreds of events and receptions over the years with my own groups but I also own several companies so I have planned the same type of receptions myself. I realize the importance of creating energy in the room while keeping the volume at a low level, showing up early, setting up quickly, dressing for business and performing music people can enjoy and remember.
These are all factors that should be taken into consideration when planning a corporate reception and when deciding on the musical group. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or if you need suggestions on musical groups and themes. I have many different groups on ChicagoJazzEntertainment.com but I also work with many other groups in different genres from dueling pianos to 1980’s cover bands and everything in between – Blues-Reggae-Funk-Retro, etc.
Mike Jeffers is the founder of Chicago Jazz Magazine and Chicago Jazz Entertainment and has been performing and coordinating music for corporate receptions, weddings and private parties for over 25 years.
